Miyagi

Ski slopes are concentrated on the prefectural boarder with the adjacent Yamagata prefecture. Snow conditions are great at these slopes. Some slopes are only 40 minutes’ drive away from the city of Sendai, and visitors can enjoy both skiing and sightseeing. Sendai beef and Sendai beef tongue are reputed nationwide, and there are many specialty restaurants for them. Matsushima is a famous scenic area recognized as one of the three great picturesque landscapes of Japan. Over 260 islands of different sizes are located in Matsushima. It is known for its fresh seafood, and visitors can enjoy grilled fresh seafood and all-you-can-eat oysters.
