Shiga

Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, is located in Shiga prefecture, and ski slopes are scattered in the mountainous areas around the lake. Skiers can enjoy panoramic views through the slopes on the mountains. Visitors can enjoy a sightseeing cruise through the lake and enjoy local specialties made with freshwater fish caught in the lake. There are many historical spots such as the national treasure, Hikone castle, and Enryaku-ji temple in Mt. Hiei. Since Shiga is close to Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara, it offers an ideal environment to learn more about Japanese history.
