Tokushima prefecture locates in Shikoku region where snow falls less but ski resorts in the area maintain slope conditions by using artificial snow fall machines. A ski resort facilitates a grass-skiing attraction. The whirling tides in the Naruto strait is a famous tourism spot and the scenery of huge whirling currents created by tides flowing inside the straits at high and low tides is a signature sight. Tokushima is the original place of Awa-Odori, a Japanese traditional festival dance, and the Awa-Odori festival is held for several days every August. Tarai-Udon noodle and Handa-Somen noodle are popular as local food.
