Once you've practiced snowboarding below the lifts and in the beginner's area and are somewhat familiar with snowboarding, try riding a lift and snowboarding on a run. When you first use a lift, it's common to fall over while boarding or getting off at the end of the ride. It's recommended that you try creating a mental image of the process of getting on and off the lift before actually using it.

Image training before getting on a lift

Before actually getting onto a lift, imagine the process of getting on and off. When getting on, make sure that the board points forward, and look back to check that the lift is approaching.

Follow the instructions of staff at the boarding platform

When getting onto the lift, remove your back foot from the binding and push down the high back. If you forget to do this, it may catch on the lift and cause an injury. So make absolutely sure that you press down the high back before getting onto the lift.
When you're about to board the lift, check that it is approaching from behind and aim the board straight ahead.

Pull down the safety bar

Once the lift comes, sit down at the right time and don't let the tip of your snowboard catch on the snow.

Slide downward off the lift at the drop-off platform

Once you're about to get off the lift, raise the safety bar and lift the tip of your snowboard. Stay seated on the lift until you reach the area designated for disembarkation, and stand up once you reach this point. If the exit is sloped, you can simply slide forward. Quickly move away from the lift once you disembark so you don't get in the way of people behind you.
It's dangerous to stop or sit down at the bottom of the lift drop-off platform. This can cause the people skiing or snowboarding after you to fall over or hit you, and lead to pileup accidents. Quickly move away from the drop-off platform once you get off the lift so you don't block the flow of people.

Fasten your bindings at a site away from the lift

Snowboarders should move away from the lift drop-off platform to do up bindings to avoid congesting the area. If there's a signed area for strapping back in, do so there.
