Above-the-clouds snow resort via cable car
Yuzawa has ski resorts within walking distance from Echigo Yuzawa station on the Joetsu Shinkansen. One of them is Yuzawa Kogen Ski Resort. Many people, not just skiers and snowboarders, visit this resort to enjoy the view, as you can go all the way up to the summit by cable car and enjoy the beautiful snowscape.
Yuzawa Kogen Ski Resort is right in the middle of Yuzawa's onsen town. A large cable car that can carry 166 people will take you to the summit in just a few minutes. During the ride 500m up the mountain, you'll be surrounded by an entirely white world 1,000m above sea level. The snowy, quiet winter mountains offer a stark contrast to the buzz of the onsen town.
Your ride is a seven-minute aerial stroll from the foot to the summit. You will be at the summit in what seems like no time at all, admiring the beautiful snowy mountains on your way up.
Snow terrace with a gorgeous backdrop
In the winter, Yuzawa Kogen Ski Resort will open a snow terrace at the cable car summit station. There will be stylish sofas and tables on the snowy field where you can relax with a panoramic view of the mountains. It's scheduled to open in March, free of charge (it may not open depending on the weather).
The snow terrace is very popular thanks to the fantastic view. You can see the famous trio of the Echigo mountains, Uonuma Plain, and the Tanigawa Mountain Range all from the terrace.
There is also a snowland where you can enjoy a variety of snow adventures, including tubing and sledding.
Above-the-clouds café next to the terrace
Right next to the snow terrace is an above-the-clouds café, where you can enjoy sweets and hot drinks in the café space or on the terrace. You can enjoy a fantastic view from the café counter seats.
A special crepe using rice powder from Uonuma. The sweet hot chocolate is also a popular item.
Enjoy a break in the terrace with a hot drink! Your coffee break under the clear blue winter sky feels so refreshing.
